Information on the Constitutional Amendment 1 - November 2026 Election

This November 2026 Election, Minnesota voters are tasked with voting on a Constitutional Amendment regarding school funding.

The Minnesota DFL voted at a recent SCC meeting to support the Vote YES efforts. We encourage voters to learn more about this ballot question, and to remind voters that leaving this blank counts as a no vote. Your vote is your voice - be sure to use it! 🍎 🚌 🗳️

This question was put on our ballots with a bipartisan, unanimous vote in the Minnesota Legislature. Since 1858, Minnesota has maintained a permanent fund dedicated to public schools – now valued at $2.3 billion. An outdated rule limits what schools can actually receive each year. Updating that rule would send additional funding to Minnesota schools every year – without raising a single tax. This would provide approximately $33.00 per student per year increase in funding.

CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT 1

Increasing funding to school districts

Shall the Minnesota Constitution be amended to increase the funding going to all school districts from the permanent school fund, which is a fund that supports school districts without raising individual income or property taxes, effective July 1, 2027?
